In a time, centuries before now, there lived a wish. A single wish in the inky blackness of the night. That wish became so strong that it bloomed and expanded into a whole new realm. A new mysterious world. A place full of blissful magic. Nobody knew of this new world. The place bountiful of magic, creatures and interesting new plants. Nobody knew, until one day when a young girl named Rose Leath, who was never quite satisfied with what she had, came across a magic shaft. A magic shaft is a crack in reality, space, and time. It would allow little bits of creativity and magic to seep from the other world to ours. Rose was quite a curious ten-year-old girl and when she found the shaft she knelt down and stuck her hand through. It tingled. She tore the shining crack open wider. When she did so a breeze wafted past and tossed her hair like an old friend calling her to follow. She slipped her slender frame through the hole, and it closed behind her. Never to open again.
When she came through the other side she stepped into the bright new world. The world of mystical magical creatures and strange funny things. Adventurous Rose Leath was the first human to set eyes on the wonderful place and soon named it Laspa, the world of the mystical unknown.
As she looked around, she marveled at the animals and the beautiful landscape. She tilted her head back to look at the sky that seemed like a rainbow with shining sparkling stars throughout. Close to one of the brightest stars was the moon. No, two moons! The bigger of the two was a light blue and looked as if a giant had hit it with a mallet making the right half explode into a million little pieces. And the only way to explain the other moon was that it looked like the smoothest sea green and baby blue marble in the world. After taking a little more time to admire the colorful sky and moons, she turned her gaze to the right. The first thing she saw was a huge castle on the hill that seemed as if it was made of ice as its slick glassy walls reflected in the moonlight. At the bottom of the hill that the magnificent palace was perched on was a huge forest. Not like the scary kind that Hansel and Gretel had to travel through or like the creepy woods little red riding hood had to traverse but like the kind you would imagine with deer, fairies, cute rabbits, unicorns, and foxes, maybe even a phoenix or two. It was a calm environment. Rose turned on her heel and directly behind her was an elegant mountain range with glistening snow toped peaks. The site of them made her think of the time she had hiked the mountain next to Multnomah Falls, because as she turned her attention to the right of the mountains, she laid eyes on the largest and most beautiful waterfall of crystal-clear water she had ever seen. After cascading almost three thousand feet off the edge of a cliff it flowed directly into a huge lake that seemed as big as five of her schools put together!
Finished looking at the landscape far away she focused her attention to the clearing she had found herself in. It was about the size of two basketball courts and was surrounded by trees. When she looked closer at the trees past all the pretty purples, blues, and pinks of the leaves, she saw that instead of fruit they had crystals of all colors hanging off their branches like thousands of dangling earrings. She took a step towards them and felt something soft unfold under the weight of her foot. She looked down at the ground around her feet and saw that flowers lined the grass around her sneakers. She took another step and watched as the little plants bloomed where she stepped. As she walked the foliage sprang up making somewhat of a carpet. She stopped and sat down in the cool grass. Suddenly, making her jump, a ginormous bush sprang out of the ground next to her. It shook its leaves and then bloomed producing fruit. Rose smiled and took a few red berries from the generous bush’s branches. She popped one in her mouth and chewed for a moment before her eyes lit up. It tasted just like chocolate! Reaching out she snagged a few more berries of assorted colors. She soon found that the red ones tasted like chocolate the pink ones were vanilla ice cream, and the orange ones seemed to be cotton candy! She ate until she was full but then her throat got dry. Immediately after that realization, a big tulip sprang up and unfolded, revealing a small teacup with a yellow dandelion colored drink inside. Rose hesitantly took a small sip and reveled at how good the beverage was. She couldn’t tell if it was tea or hot coco but whatever it was, she liked it. After she had satisfied her thirst, she got tired and fell asleep to the soothing sounds of the nearby owl’s hoot and the soft chirp of the crickets, not worried about the possible dangers of sleeping outside.
The next morning, she opened her eyes and felt something soft under her hand. She sat up and saw a rabbit curled up under her palm. Turning her head, she found a fox lounging nearby not seeming to care she was there. And right then a big fluffy dog knocked her over. Its owner stepped out of the trees, and now with a new friend, Rose knew that she had everything she needed right at arm’s reach. There is food, delicious beverages, animals, breathtaking endless landscape, and a new friend here. Rose now knew she would never have to go home again, because she had finally found contentment and satisfaction, here in Laspa.
