In the morning, a suspicious guy named Chad went around an Atlantic City casino. He wore all black, a black hoodie, a ski mask, a backpack, and a big chain. Chad has been gambling for plenty of years and has been addicted to it. Chad’s motive for cheating is to win, take their money, and then find more people to play against. Chad cheats in blackjack by marking cards, trying to spot weak dealers and take a look at their hole card, adding chips to an existing bet, and using blackjack cheating devices.
Chad does not like going against professional gamblers, as they might be able to suspect he’s cheating. Chad goes live on Instagram and says, “Come to Atlantic City Casino, play me in blackjack for 10,000 dollars!” Then, some people come in and play with him. Tim, who plays against Chad, plays Blackjack. Chad wins and takes Tim’s money. After Tim loses, he plays him again, failing to get his money back. When he loses again, he suspects Chad is doing something weird. Tim goes to a security guard and reports him cheating. Chad sees the bodyguard approaching him, runs into his car, and drives home.
As Chad drives home, Tim gets a picture of his license plate. Tim called the police, and Chad woke up to the sirens at his door. When Chad hears the knocking on his door, he feels petrified. Chad opens the door, and the police officer asks him, “Hey, how is your day going?”
Chad says, “Good, how is your day going?”
The officer says, “Good, what were you doing at the casino yesterday?”
Chad replies, “Playing blackjack with my friends, nothing much.”
The officer says, “Were you cheating in the games?”
Chad says, “Yes, I’m so sorry, officer, it won’t happen again.” The Officer brings him to his patrol car and then puts him in handcuffs, and throws him into the back of his car. The officer explains that now he will have a criminal record due to Chad’s gambling activities. The officer heads down to the Atlantic City casino to watch a tape of the scenario. As the officer leaves his car to watch the videotape, Chad needs an exit plan to get out of the patrol car as fast as he can when he’s gone. Chad first checked his surroundings. Then he looked for tools, checked his pockets, and found a paper clip. Chad used the paperclip on the door lock and heard a click! The door pops open, and Chad stays low and runs away.
As Chad disappeared into the darkness, adrenaline coursed through his veins. He knew that his journey was far from over, but in that moment, he felt success. With every step, he moved closer to a new beginning, leaving behind the shackles of his past and embracing the promise of change in his life. Chad already knows that he has done wrong and promises to stop cheating and gambling; to do that, he wants to become a police officer.
He moves entirely away as the officer knows where he lives, so he sells his house and finds a new one in Egg Harbor Township. After he sees the new house he wants, he buys it and gets the house all settled. As they did not put Chad in jail, there are no current records of cheating in casinos, so he acts like a whole new person. Chad became a Police officer because he wanted to become a better person than taking other people’s money. Chad didn’t get too much money off of cheating gambling because there weren’t that many people that would fall for his tricks.
Chad signs up, and the next two days, he gets an email asking him for his resume. He brings that up when they do his first interview. He had the interview and a blank resume three months later because this was his first job. The two hiring managers were so confused about why he had never gone to a job before, as this lowered Chad’s chances of getting this job. Chad explains, “ I have a wife and kids, please don’t decline me. I need this job, and money has been tight recently.” This lie from Chad sounded good to the hiring managers, and he got the job in no time. The head manager sends him an email to get into the police academy. Four months later, Chad goes to the police academy, gets his work done, and is accepted to the EHTPD (Egg Harbor Township Police Department).
Chad is so excited about his new job, and because of the date, the first Friday of the month, they always meet with all of the local Police departments. Chad asks his Boss, “Are we going to meet with Atlantic City?”
“Yes, we will. So Chad starts thinking about the meeting and how he should avoid the officer who put him in his police car a while ago. Later that day, he drove to the city hall in Ventnor for the meeting. Chad’s plan is if the officer ever recognizes him, just pretend you don’t know who you’re talking about and be friendly with everyone you talk to. Chad drives over, and they all sit down at the table. The mayor of Ventnor is now discussing the new terms and policies he would like to discuss. The officer looks at Chad and seems like he knows him. The officer says, “Hey kid, I remember you back from the tables.”
Chad says, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. You must be thinking about a different person.” The officer comes over and talks to him, and Chad admits, saying, “Hey, it’s me. I know you might not think I’m the person you would want to be around, but I truly changed. I must admit it”.
The officer says, “Ok, I believe you should hang out at your place; we should be friends.” Chad and he are friends for the rest of their lives.
