It was 1989 , me and my coworkers were working in Washington DC in a private laboratory. Dr. Jameston and I were working on a very big project. The cure to cancer. Though it has not been released to the public, we were almost there. But suddenly we heard a bang along with glass shattering, Me and my other coworker, Dr. Rayton plus Jameston tailing behind found what caused the mess.
The virus that we had kept contained for 8 years fell off the ground due to someone running past and knocking the virus over with their coat. Jameston, afraid of getting affected, took off running in the opposite direction, while Rayton and I had gas masks so we ran through the infected air and wandered through green mist like gas. Me and Rayton were running down the hall. We were going to make sure that the laboratory doors had been closed. Due to our surprise we saw the door wide open. As we tried to close the heavy door we heard groaning like zombies? To our knowledge the smoke had escaped from the closed doors into our dormitories and filled the scientist’s brains with viruses capable of taking over the entire body. Me and Dr. Rayton were trying to open the doors to escape until we heard another bang along with more glass shattering. We both knew what it was, the cure to cancer was broken into. We also both knew that if they were to be combined it would cause an apocalypse. Finally managing to open the heavy door we ran to the nearest news station. As we were heading on foot to the nearest new stations we unintentionally left the doors of the infected laboratory wide open. It was too late the apocalyptic looking zombified scientists were already leaving out into the public. To our shock we realized that the zombified scientists were biting other people making them turn into zombies. We took our chance and ran as fast as we could as they could most likely run as well. When we had the feeling we were not being followed we went into an abandoned house so as not to attract the zombies of any noises that were suspicious. Once we were sure that zombies had wandered off we looked anywhere we could go to see if there was a person or a group alive to see if we could form an alliance. Two and a half hours of searching in the dark with no electricity we finally found a person. The man told us that we could come into his apartment since the zombies couldn’t get in because of how tall his apartment is. He also gave us plenty of information about him. He told us that his name was Derek. He informed us that the news stations were still on because they had cars and could escape from the zombies since they did not know how to drive. Derek told them that the zombies sleep and that when they sleep they can’t wake up until 3 hours have past. Dr. Rayton and I were astonished at how much information Derek Rayton and I decided to tell him our idea to form an alliance with him, and Derek was excited thinking that it would be like the avengers beating up criminals. In reality we were fending zombies away from Derek’s apartment given that it was our ground base for ideas and plans. Our first plan was to sneak into the lab when the zombies were sleeping. When we started the plan we did not account for the fact that there would be thousands of zombies. We carefully walked through the snoring zombies that had their eyes open like they were awake. Once we were finally past the zombies, we saw the lab was destroyed and old looking. The lab before, was a gray and some black like copper design. Now the lab looks like it had been smashed into a wall with erosion. Instead of the beautiful black and gray design it was now looking greenish blue and critters have created nests full of their babies. Just when we got inside the lab, Rayton told me that we had to go. I was confused until I looked over and saw a massive bloody bite mark on his leg. A zombie fake sleeping had bit Rayton. Rayton acknowledges that he didn’t feel the bite so the zombies must have an antipain bite that fuses with the blood of a human, yet Rayton had no symptoms of zombification. As we were rushing out of the lab we saw two zombies chasing after us. In a panic we rushed back to our base forgetting that there were still zombies chasing us. Our base was compromised. Zombies were banging on the glass and walls trying to break in, so we fled and found another dark abandoned house. We made sure that there were no zombies following us. We started conjuring up a plan with Derek. We planned to sneak in from the back. So, our mission started. Sneaking in from the back was much easier than trying to move through. After we made it in we looked at all of the stuff that was broken, shattered. Our mission involved getting to the shattered cure to see what was left and what we can still salvage. We saw the cure’s containment was only broken from the top so a good portion of it was still salvageable. We both thought that if we got a blood sample from one of the sleeping zombies that it would cure every zombie. But suddenly we heard water ripple. A drop of Rayton’s blood had dropped into the container. The cure turned to a greenish-blue yellowy mixture originally being white. Rayton had created the cure for the zombies. My eyes got fuzzy and then I woke up in my bed next to my wife, with my kid in the other room for another day at the lab.
