We were getting chased, and my legs were tired from pedaling so hard, but stopping wasn’t an option so we had to push through and try and get away.
It was just a normal day, I texted all my friends to ride bikes, and we all met up and we rode around having fun we met up with more people and we rode around for a bit. Afterward, we went to get food; while we were eating, someone had the idea to explore an abandoned building. We headed to the building, but when we were there someone had a lighter and lit a piece of wood on fire. We heard the sizzling of the fire and felt the heat from the burning flames as the whole building started to burn and all we could see was smoke and the building turning to ash. we all ran out of there, got on our bikes, and tried to peddle away as fast as we could. By the time we got out of the building and got on our bikes cops were already following us so we had to peddle away even faster, but there was no chance against a car. We had to think of a way to escape; we thought of a route we could take through the woods to get away so we used all our strength to get into the trails but there was a bike cop at the entrance. We had to decide to either stop there or to try and out-ride them, but the cops were still following us. We had no choice but to go through the trails when we were inside we thought we were safe, but then we saw the helicopter in the air.
It was starting to get dark and cold but we couldn’t make a fire or it would be easier for the helicopter to see us so we hid in tall bushes and just when we thought we were safe we could hear the bushes moving, the voices in the distance and we saw the flashlights getting closer I told everyone not to move and to stay where we were, but someone tried to make a quick run for it. They got caught and they questioned him asking where the rest of us were and he told them. At this point, it was pitch black and we were all cold but when the cop started running toward us we all got on our bikes and made it away. The cops all chased after us and forgot about the person they caught earlier so we all got away and escaped through the woods and a little bit later we thought we were free and looked up to see if the helicopter was still there. It was hovering over the woods so we made it away we all went back to one of our houses and we turned on the news but little did we know we were all over the news. They got pictures of us on our bikes so we had to stay undercover for a bit but it wasn’t the end of it. During the weekend we stayed inside.
When we went back to school we thought we were in the clear then a week later all of us got called down to the office. We met up in the hallway and made a plan to go down there, but to act as if nothing happened so we all went down, when we got there there were 5 cops and we didn’t know what to do. We tried to stay calm even though we were all shaky then they brought us in 1 by 1 to question us about what happened they asked me if I heard about what happened I told them that I saw there was a fire in the abandoned building on the news, but I wasn’t sure what happened. We all stuck to the same story we had a sleepover, but we were back home at 5 and the fire happened at 6. We all got sent back to class.
Later that day, we all got called back down this time our parents were there the cops and the city council. I looked over at my friends they were all shaking and I could see the sweat dripping down their faces as they tried to calm down. This time they showed us videos of us going into the abandoned building and us hiding from the cops and the helicopter. We kept denying it until my one friend folded under pressure and said that he was the one that started the fire and we all did nothing, but he wasn’t the one that did it so we all admitted to going into the abandon building and we ran from the cops. Since he admitted it first, he got in less trouble than we did for not lying. We all should’ve just admitted it right away and we would be in less trouble, therefore, it’s better, to tell the truth than to make up a lie and hope for people to believe it. We all got taken to the police station for more questioning and I told them the truth about what happened and how we made a bad mistake and we regretted doing it but not everyone had the same idea. Two of my friends tried to run out of there but got caught and got put in jail for 2 weeks but my friends and I who told the truth and were respectful only got a warning that if we got in trouble again we were going to jail for a month. So we stayed out of trouble and the kids that went to jail also learned their lesson we tried to stay out of trouble as much as possible after that and spent time doing the other things that we enjoyed that didn’t involve us getting in trouble with the police or with the school .
