The last few days have been like no other in my life. I have always been the adventure type of girl, but there hasn’t been any excitement since the girl went missing in New York. It all started on that Sunday. I had woke up that morning and was ready to have a great day. Walked out the door to my Vespa were rose petals, black as night, circled the bike. I looked around and saw nothing but my neighbors and the mailman. I saw nothing strange so I decided to go to the coffee shop.
On my way, I thought about the rose petals. I thought a little more about what happened. Do I have a stalker? Is this some kind of joke? If so, who was messing with me? I wanted to tell someone, but who? No one would believe me. I got my coffee and headed to Allison’s house, the only friend I can trust. I rang the doorbell, I heard someone running down the steps. Allison opened the door. “Hello.” she said. I walked inside and threw myself on the couch. “What’s wrong?” she said, looking confused. I looked at her and told the entire story though it wasn’t that long. Allison did not even blink an eye.
“What should I do?” I said fearfully.
She sighed.“ I think that you should not worry about it right now cause we are going to be late.” I looked at her like she was crazy.
“What?” I was so confused. Allison was worried about school when I had black rose petals on my bike this morning. “ Fine. Let’s go.”
Allison didn’t talk to me on the way. I was so confused. How come she wasn’t worried about this? When we got to school, she got off the Vespa, “ Look, I know you think I’m crazy for saying to leave it alone.” she said quietly. “ But if we get too involved with it something might happen and we can’t risk that.” I understood completely when she said that but I wasn’t going to listen. I had to figure out what was going on and I would.
After school, I went out to my bike petrified to see if there were more petals. I looked at it cautiously– nothing. I opened the compartment under the seat and saw a piece of paper. I picked it up and it said Hope you enjoyed my gift this morning, the other girl didn’t. As soon as I finished reading, I dropped the paper: the other girl. Could that be the girl that went missing? This person leaving the petals and the note. “ What am I going to do?” I whispered to myself quietly feeling hot tears flood my eyes. I didn’t want anyone to see me crying, so I got on my bike and went home.
When I got there my house smelled like smoke but it wasn’t on fire. My parents were on a trip so no one should be in the house. I went to the kitchen and no one was there. I went upstairs to my room soundlessly. Once I got close to the door, I knew someone was there. I could hear them lighting a match. I looked around the frame of the door and saw someone in a mask. I yelped, I could only see their eyes. They were as blue as the ocean. As soon as this person saw me, they dropped the match and jumped out the window.
I was about to follow, but my carpet lit on fire and I had to not burn the house down. I didn’t know what to do, as I looked around the flames got greater and surrounded me. No. I thought I was not dying in a fire, absolutely not. They were starting to close in on me all of a sudden. I decided to just jump through the flames and get out of the house. When I got down stairs I grabbed the cookie jar filled with money and sprinted out of the house.
I got on the Vespa and went to Allison’s house. I didn’t even ring the doorbell; I just opened the door and walked in. “Allison!” I called. I was so worried about what just happened, I kept thinking and I didn’t even hear her call back the first time. “What W-”
“No!” I yelled. There was no time for nicknames. The nickname writer did not matter right now. “The person attacked me! I did and will not call 911! I am tracking this person down and you’re coming with me!” I heard her walk down the stairs and she walked into the living room. Allison had a great look of fear on her face. “W-what” she stuttered. I looked at her and did not return the look of fear.
“Let’s go.”
We went to my house and I found a trail. Muddy footsteps, in big strides this guy was sprinting. I followed those sprinting strides all the way to a cave and realized that that cave was near the school. I went on, it wasn’t dark and wet like it is in the movies. It felt warm and welcoming. I kept walking deeper into the cave, I felt my nerves starting to overwhelm me. I stopped and sat on the floor for a second. I felt the world spinning around me, I heard Allison say something but I didn’t understand. I wanted to stand but I couldn’t and when I tried, I blacked out.
I woke up tied to a chair and Allison was not there. I called out “Allison?” No one answered. I looked around and saw a shadow, a person’s shadow. “Your friend ran away as soon as you fainted.” I looked to my left and saw another girl who looked frightened. I looked back up at the guy and realized something. I looked him straight in the eyes. “ Release her and take me.” My literature essay finished.
