Once upon a time there was a kid named James and his sister Oliva. James was 17 and Oliva was 14 years old. It was the New Year’s day of 1999 but it wasn’t going to be the same for them again. They were in an alleyway in Brooklyn.
When the clock struck 12:00, they, out of nowhere, got sucked into an endless void. They landed on their faces, their faces got deformed. Their eyes could move around to different parts of their body and had a massive scar. It looked like an arrow that was on fire.
It was strange because Oliva looked the exact same as James, except James’s body was more muscular so it didn’t get mutated but Oliva was skinnier so her body turned really big but she was not as tall as James.
“Why do we look like this?” James wondered.
“Where are we?” Oliva asked.
“Why is your eye in your hand?” James was confused.
“Why are we in this place? What is this place? And what year are we in?” the unending questions of Oliva.
“It looks like Brooklyn but upside down,” James added.
RAHHHHHHAR. There was a loud sound.
“What was that?” asked both of them.
They both turned around. Standing there menacingly looking at them from a distance was purple and blue. It looked like a Pterodactyl from the dinosaur age. It was huge, like the size of a school bus.
“Oh no!” The two yelled.
“Run!” James screamed.
The pterodactyl chased Oliva and James, and finally got out of its gaze. On their journey they found new people.
“Who are you people?” asked Oliva.
“We’re Brooklyn and Mikey,” answered one.
Brooklyn and Mike were in the infinite void for years. James and Oliva got confused because the void just started.
“No,” Brooklyn said.
“There was one infinite void for about 30 years,” Mikey added.
“But how do you get out of this void?” asked Oliva.
“There is one last remote at the top of that house.”
“Last one?” James asked.
“Are there any more people in the infinite void?” asked Oliva.
“Yes,” said Mikey.
“How many people are here?”
“I don’t know,” Mikey said.
“Maybe, at least over 50,” whispered Brooklyn.
“Wow,” said James.
“How long are we going to be here? Where do we go next?” Olivia wondered.
“Well we need that button at the top of that house” said Brooklyn.
“Why?” said James.
“So we can get out of this black pit,” Mikey said.
“Right,” said Oliva.
Then they all got tired from their journey. Finally, they saw beds along the way.
“Yes, there’s beds here!” said James and Mikey.
“Finally we can sleep” said Brooklyn.
“WAIT” said Oliva.
“This is our house,” the siblings said simultaneously.
“Really,” asked Brooklyn.
“Yea,” answered James.
Four hours have passed since they all slept when “BANG!”
“What was that?” asked Brooklyn.
“AHHHHHHHHHH…HELP.”
“What was that?” said James.
“Where’s Brooklyn?” said Mikey.
“I don’t know!” James said.
“Do you know where Brooklyn is, Oliva?”
“No. How am I supposed to know?” Oliva said.
“Well we have to find her,” suggested James.
“But where would she be?” said Olivia.
“I don’t know, this is a big place,” Mikey said.
“Well we need to find her,” said Oliva.
As they started their way to finding Brooklyn, James said in a deep toned voice, “I think I found Brooklyn.”
“Where?” asked Mikey and Oliva.
“Down there,” James said, pointing at the hole.
“Do we really have to go down there?” asked Oliva, worriedly.
“Well if we wanna find Brooklyn then yes, we sure do” said James.
“No, I don’t want to,” Mikey said.
“Let’s split up. Mikey will go right, me and Oliva will go left.”
“Ok,” agreed Mikey.
Twenty minutes have passed, when..
“Hi Mikey,” said Oliva.
It’s a loop!
“Anyone noticed it’s hot down here yet?”
“Wait you said hot,” said Mikey.
“Yes, it’s burning down here,” said James.
“I remember reading an article about being in a loop. It said that if it’s hot enough, then you can create a time loop,” said Mikey.
“Oh, great! Let’s try that,” said Oliva.
“We all have to run the same way,” said Mikey.
“IT’S WORKING, Run faster” said Mikey.
Twenty seconds later, someone who looked like Brooklyn emerged.
“Where are we?” it asked.
“Where’s Brooklyn? I heard her but I didn’t see her.”
“Who is that?” Mikey asked.
“IT’S ME!”
“Brooklyn, where have you been?” asked a concerned Mikey.
Oliva noticed that she didn’t look like the Brooklyn they met.
“Wait, you are not Brooklyn! You’re an impostor!”
When she said this, Brooklyn then turned into the pterodactyl who was chasing them hours ago.
“Run!” James yelled.
But the pterodactyl got Mikey.
“Come on, let’s go to that house over there,” James yelled at Oliva.
“Oh no! We need to save them, James,” cried Oliva as they shut the door.
“Sorry, but I think they’re gone,” said James.
“What, what do you mean ‘gone’?” Oliva asked.
James just looked at his sister and sighed.
While they were quietly seated on the floor, Oliva realized that they were inside THE HOUSE.
“Look, James, it’s the remote!” whispered Oliva.
James hurriedly got up and got hold of the remote.
“Press it,” Oliva said excitedly.
“Ok I’m going to, chill,” said James.
Then, in just a few seconds they got out. They looked around and found themselves back to where they were.
“Oh James, we’re back!” Oliva happily shouted, hugging her brother.
While she had her arms around her, she let out a cry.
“What’s wrong?” James asked, worried about his sister.
“We got out without Brooklyn and Mikey.”
The thought of their newly found friends hurt them badly, Oliva especially.
“Oliva, we tried our best to survive. It’s just that they are now permanently gone. I’m sorry.”
She loosened her arms and let go of James, wiping her tears away.
“Let’s go home. Mom and dad must be very worried. Ready?” asked James, holding her hand.
“Yeah!”
