“The virus is coming; what type of virus? We do not know !” my friend Sam said.
“I don’t know. All I know is that it is coming fast, so we need to be prepared. We need to tell other people, like our family. I heard that it is going to start in 2025,” he added.
He had discovered the virus by studying air particles. He noticed something strange in the way the particles reacted to cold weather. They would expand when introduced to the cold. When a person in a cold environment would breathe in, their lungs would expand, and their body would explode.
“So, people would have to quarantine, meaning no school for maybe one or two years.”
“But how could we tell all of the USA?”
“We will send it to the news and social media and tell the whole world about it, so if they are planning to move or visit. We would still need to name it. It will be named “Lung Explosion.””
This was the conversation that went on for hours after discovering the virus from the lab. Worries were all over the place because initially it was just Sam and I who knew about it this time.
The next day, we got the results from the news, but it was too late.
“There were only twenty-nine people left in the world,” said Sam.
“They would have a fever, bleed from their eyes, start puking, and die. We need to get everyone together during the summer, hand out special masks, and find a cure, but that could take a year or so. In the meantime, we will send them a special medicine named fionics. That will stay in the body for up to one year. Rose, you must take two of the pills, but it is not a cure,” said Sam.
The virus continues to infect everyone. We have not found a cure, and now there are just ten people left.
“So now what?” Sam asked. “Let’s test the air particles again, okay?”
“I will do it. Let me help,” I responded.
“The virus!!! It’s gone!!! I think there’s a problem!!!” I screamed.
“People are still turning into zombies. We have to find a new antidote to turn them back into normal people. We need to do something about it. We need to tell our moms and dads; let’s call,” said Sam, but it was too late.
Sam and I dropped to the ground. Then Sam woke up and then woke me up. We thought for a second and said, “We need to do something fast.”
Then I said, “It is just us and 8 people in the world. We have to find a cure for the zombies, so let’s do some testing and get a regular zombie so we can test it on them and see if it works. Let’s do it; you’ve got to get gear on, okay?”
“Okay.”
So Sam left, and there was a zombie. It grabbed us, but luckily, we had gear on. We brought the zombie to the lab and it tried to bite Sam. We strapped the zombie to the table, and it fell asleep. Sam took medicine and took a nap so he could feel better.
I tested the zombie, but the cure didn’t work. I had worked hard, passed out, and Sam found me on the ground. He put me to bed, tested the zombie, strapped him to the table, and found a rodent. He fed it to him and tested his blood against the other zombie’s blood to figure out how the virus started.
So, we tested and found strange particles in the bloodstream. I, fortunately, got access to a CDC lab. I then started to research and found out that back in 2000, the CDC found a frozen virus in the Arctic that scientists were researching. One scientist working on it got a virus explosion on him and ended up sick. The CDC didn’t do any port calls, and since the scientist worked from home, about a week later, they found the scientist dead. CDC had to go in to clean up.
From all the research I found, there was one variable they didn’t test against “Lung Explosion,” a virus called 23AB. Sam and I had to get another blood sample from the zombies, which wasn’t easy. About a 24-event, we managed to get the sample. We did many different tests. CDC had all the equipment we could ever want. We found the missing variable: the samples did not have active cells to work. Sam and I drew our blood, and it worked. We finally had a cure! We made masks for your lungs, so you can’t get infected with “Lung Explosion.” Now we had to make a shot for everyone to take.
We needed to get everyone’s blood to make a vaccine for their body antibodies. So we needed to meet up in the coming spring.
Two months later, on March 15th, 2026, there were 5 people left. We have to test their blood. The 5 people left have to come see us so we can test their blood. In the meantime, we keep testing and updating our current vaccines. This time, we need to find out how the people that are alive can get to the lab.
While those people tried to get to the lab for the vaccine, one of them died. One named Sky, who was 3 that time, was so ill that We put her on a bed so she could rest. When she woke up, we gave her medicine and made a special room for her to stay in. We brought her food and water so she won’t dehydrate.
Five years later, Sam and I were blessed to have 5-year-old quintuplets: Ella, Mila, Ava, Jack, and Luke. Because we succeeded in the vaccine, they are immune to cold air. We need to keep them safe. Finally, word spread that the vaccine worked and there are 10 more survivors.
